About CRI:

The Nehru Institute of Technology launched Centre for Research and Innovation (NIT CRI) to the Faculty Members and Students would be encouraged to perform their Research works and convert their Business Ideas into successful commercial or social ventures through Multidisciplinary Module. NIT – CRI is established in the year 2021, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. M. Sivaraja, Principal, NIT   and the   cell is   headed by Dr. T. Jayaprakash, Prof./S&H. Faculty members and Students will be guided and assisted on various aspects such as Publication of Research articles in WoS/SCI/Scopus/UGC indexed journals, publications of Research articles in reputed conferences, Patent publications, inculcating Start-up Eco system for the students, obtaining research funding from agencies like; DST – SERB, TNSCST, MSME, CSIR, AICTE & UGC. Also intended to avail facilities from agencies of support system as endowments, information on technologies, etc under NIT – CRI. The Student Entrepreneurs should understand that their idea has a high degree of commercial viability leading to prospective business for global recognition.

NIT – CRI has five centres for Research and five hubs for Innovation and training. Every faculty member and student is encouraged to associate themselves with at least one centre. The centres and hubs focus on basic, applied and adoptive research, product development, learning-resources development and industrial training.

• To undertake sponsored research and provide consultancy services in industrial, educational and socially relevant areas.

Objectives & Functions: 

• Offering support and aid to researchers through provision of scientific instruments and materials needed for executing their research.
• Assisting researchers from teaching staff members and students by analyzing their different research samples in the centre.
• Notifying Staff members about Conferences and Scientific Symposium to participate in it.
• Assisting staff members in submitting research proposal to various funding agencies and follow their research plus the financial support.
• To catalyze and promote development of knowledge-based and innovation-driven enterprises and promote employment opportunities amongst the students.
• To motivate, support and mentor students for identification, development and commercialization of their innovative ideas.
• To initiate targeted number of innovative student projects each year for new product development.
• To organize Business Plan Competitions/Innovation Camps/ Hackathons with active involvement of industry and alumni.
